What we do with your writing.

The short version

Your drafts stay on your device until you choose to check or publish. When you run a check, your article and your sources are sent to Cachet so it can verify them. Cachet keeps the verdict, not your sources. When you publish, the article you chose to publish becomes public, along with its certificate. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your writing to train models.

What we collect

• Account. The email and role you give when you sign in.
• Drafts. Saved on your device (in your browser) as you write. They are not sent to us until you run a check or publish.
• Checks. When you run a check, your article and sources are sent to our verification service. We use them to produce the verdict and do not retain your source documents afterward.
• Published content. Articles you publish, and their certificates, are stored and made public so others can read them and see what was checked.

How we use it

To verify your work against your sources, to publish what you choose to publish, and to run and improve the service. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your articles or sources to train machine-learning models.

What is public

Anything you publish is public: the article at its own link, and its certificate at a share link. Anyone holding a link can read it. Drafts you do not publish are not public.

Keeping and removing your data

Published articles and certificates stay up until you ask us to remove them or delete your account. Drafts live in your browser and are cleared when you clear your browser storage. To delete your account or a published article, contact us.

Cookies and analytics

We use your browser's local storage to keep your drafts and sign-in on your device. We keep any analytics minimal and privacy-respecting, and we do not attach analytics to the contents of your documents.
